Day 1548

Today marks a year since we said goodbye to our beloved Lilly. Although she is missed each and every day, this first anniversary was especially emotional. With The Golden Boys at my feet, I openedLilly’s Memory Box” and shed a tear or two. Her memory remains embedded in my heart.

Sharing a few recollections with my son, I told him, “I truly believe we will see her again.” He responded with “I sure hope you are right!”

Off to the hospital with Gus for a wonderful Therapy Dog session and then home to the rest of the Halo. Approaching the back door, I saw an envelope tucked into the frame of the storm door. It was from someone who used to rent our basement when I was young. She has remained a friend through the years, but we seldom connect. On the envelope, it said, “I found this in my grandmother’s scrapbook.” The picture and write-up was about my dad. Touched that she would go to the effort of bringing it to the house, I suddenly “felt” a voice say,

“Don’t worry, Honey, I’ve got her.”

It took a moment to put it all together, but my heart flooded with love and relief. I have always believed that God would want his canine angels in Heaven and now I know I am right.

How lucky we were to have Lilly in our lives.

What a joyous reunion awaits
