Day 1567
There is a true affection between our Goldens. Ranger is beloved by all, the pups have a strong bond and Gus and Sam are often the chosen “snuggle buddy” for Charlie and Hank. We often find them cuddled up on the sunroom daybed, stretched out together on the kitchen floor or gathered together by a window to watch the world go by. It is beautiful to see.
It would be nice if human families could follow suit. Sifting through the many family units I know, few seem to have absolutely no problems, rifts or unease. Mine is no exception. Even though the root of a family issue might be murky over the years, it is still challenging to bridge the gap of differences and erase the estrangement. Both parties must be amenable to reconciliation and that seems to be the problem… one family member wants to bring peace while the other is fine going their separate way.
If we could only be more doglike…
*shake it off
*sniff (hug) and make up
*have a very short memory for altercations
*place no blame
*have no regrets that can impede love
*honor the pack
Perhaps, looking at the glass half full, it allows us to appreciate and nurture the loved ones who surround us. These “gifts” can be overlooked. For the others, all we can do is model kindness and keep the door open. For dogs, that door is always open. Be more dog-like!
