Day 1609

Some goodbyes are long and full of moments to savor while others are sudden with no time to let someone know how much you love them. Last night, we said a heart-wrenching one to our dearest Ranger. It was fast, unexpected and devastating.

What I know is that he was loved beyond measure and he knew that.

As we drove to the emergency veterinary clinic, I felt him leave. Driving, I simply knew it and told Mac he had passed…a part of my heart went with him.

After we parted, I was going to take a picture of a beautiful rendition of The Rainbow Bridge. Opening the phone, a picture of our friend’s Gracie appeared on the screen. This sweet Golden Girl had passed a couple of years ago and I don’t know where that picture came from…but there it was… I believe it was his way of saying he had made it.

To say we will miss him can’t describe the ache. He was loved by so many and he knew it. Sweet boy…I am sure his sister, Lilly, met him to escort him home.

Taking a few days off to spend time with the other boys and grasp our new reality. Thank you for loving him.
